Compared to Baker’s Hill which is just around the corner, Butterfly Garden (officially called Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village) is smaller, simpler and offers visitors a unique Butterfly garden experience. This tiny garden is part of the Puerto Princesa City’s “City Tour” along with Baker’s Hill. So if you are part of a tour and is most likely you will be visiting this place.

Inside are beautiful butterflies in different sizes and species flying or just nesting and enjoying the flower garden surrounding them. You will also find a bunch of pupa hanging by the side of the garden displaying the future entertainers that are due to fly in a matter of few days.
The garden has other smaller insects and animals being showcased. After the butterflies, we get to meet and greet the Tribal Village people just attached to the garden.
This, for me, is what makes Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village tour worth the while. I thought it is so cool to meet real-life tribal people and get a glimpse of their unique and special way of living. Upon getting in the village, you will be greeted by a well-trained and clear-spoken guide that will explain in English (and Filipino of course!) what these people are about to show. It is done and set up in a very simply way, yet very interesting. You will walk away feeling satisfied for having to see something “special and unique”, at least that’s how I felt.
Over-all, Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is an exciting place to check-out if you happen to be in Puerto Princesa City. You can either stop-by here first and then on to the next destination — Baker’s Hill which is not so far located from Butterfly Garden.
